Safety, Health, Environmental Protection and Quality (SHEQ):
the central pillars of Meridian's management philosophy
The main objective of Meridian Marine Management is to work in partnership with our clients to optimise their operational efficiency, whilst ensuring that the highest standards of Safety, Health, Environmental protection and Quality are maintained at all times.
We have extensive experience within the oil and gas industry, where the highest safety standards are demanded. This experience in numerous offshore sectors throughout the world, including the North Sea, allows us at Meridian to provide these safety standards across our whole fleet.
Your safety is our priority :
Accordingly we have a Safety Culture, based on three tenets:
- Commitment
- Competence
- Continuity.
With these tenets Meridian maximises the efficiency of your shipboard operations, thereby ensuring those working on board your vessel understand their safety is our priority.
Our robust management system which is fully compliant to SOLAS chapter IX (ISM Code) and Chapter XI (ISPS) Code and ISO 9001-2000 accredited is approved by, amongst others, the governments of United Kingdom, Isle of Man, Cayman Islands, Panama, Hong Kong and Bahamas. Their annual Document of Compliance audits ensure that our high standards are maintained and verified.
To ensure our seafarers, and ship managers, are provided with, and retain the competence required to carry out their duties, Meridian retains an
in-house Fleet Training Manager. We can therefore provide clients with advice on both mandatory and non-statutory training, thereby optimising their requirements.
Meridian's Emergency Contingency Response planning ensures that all those 'what-if' scenarios (including media response) are considered and continuously exercised and evaluated. Regular table-top exercises are held, which involve both vessel and our designated crisis management team ashore. This ensures that all our teams are fully conversant with the
response plan and can react, if necessary, to protect life, the environment and your asset.
